Reasons 200-205…

June 22, 2006

… why you should shop with us or, if you own a Catholic store, use our site for your own.

200) We just added three new gift wrap options to our site including First Communion, Confirmation and New Baby / Baptism wrap. As far as I know, we are the only on-line Catholic store offering gift wrapping options.

201) We just added an Ordination Registry to the site. So, if you're going to become a deacon or priest anytime soon you can add items to your registry here and then email people a link to it so they get exactly what you want and need. You don't even have to be Catholic to use it. We want you to have beautiful, quality vestments and altar vessels regardless of the denomination to which you belong.

202) We also just added a registry for seminarians. This registry is done in conjunction with the Serra (not Sierra) club and will be used to provide seminarians with clerics and a stack of great Catholic books to take with them to the seminary. This registry depends on your generosity – you can browse the registry for things on the list, buy them, and we will give them to Serra for distribution. Right now the registry is empty but our first items should go up next week since we are meeting with all of our Colorado Springs seminarians this weekend to announce the new project. If you are part of a Serra club and would like to get involved in this project, please contact our store for more information.

203) We have just consolidated our different gift options into a Gift Center and realized that we really have a lot to offer the gift buying public. Whether you need suggestions for weddings, First Communions, Father's Day or for someone in the service, we have gift ideas already thought up. You want it wrapped? Not a problem. You want it engraved? We can do that too. You want custom prayer cards for a special occasion? We've got you covered.

204) We have just upgraded our custom prayer card feature with a new editor that works with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, Mozilla and shoud also work with Opera. It also includes a spell checker and gives you the option of getting your text printed in COLOR!

205) During checkout you can select a charity to donate part of your purchase towards. Right now we are collecting money for two things:

  1. A 3d sonogram machine. This one is going to take a while but we are patient.
  2. The legal fees for a Catholic family in a horrible situation. Read more here.

If you own a Catholic store, take a look at the Aquinas and More storefront program. For about the same price it would cost you just for the hosting of a site you build from scratch and manage yourself, you can have our site with these and new features as they are developed and let us handle all the headaches of shipping, returns and customer service. And your take on each sale? About 30% of the retail price. Just think, we absorb the cost of the product, the labor and any return issues. You just collect a check.

Interesting Tidbit – Pro Multis

From Whispers in the Loggia (I don't recommend this on a regular basis unless you can deal with a big ego).

"Two bishops sought to return the phrase "for the many" to the consecration of the precious chalice. The BCL rejected the proposal given "the overwhelming view of the USCCB membership in favor of for all."

However, the committee reply also showed Rome's hand in noting the Holy See's "expressed intention" to address the question in short order."

Faithful Beauty – 1, Banal Language – 0

The new translation of major portions of the Mass has been approved by the US bishops (although they submitted over 60 ammendments for approval to Rome) Read more over at American Papist. Now if we could just fix music, orientation and architecture. I know, I know. I really am asking for too much here.

The Cafeteria is Closed and Open Book also are covering the vote.

A Plea For Help

June 14, 2006

If half of the stuff in this story is true, this family is in serious need of financial help and prayers. During our checkout process we allow people to choose a charity to donate a portion of their purchase to. We will be adding this family as an option tomorrow.
